How religions should treat each other

03 Feb

Yfrog User, NevineZaki, posted a photo from Egypt on January 25th showing a large group of Muslims during a time of prayer encircled by a human chain of Christians protecting them. Even in the turmoil and chaos of the current events in Egypt, these two supposedly rival religions are being kind to each other. This is the kind of picture that restores my faith in humanity. Regardless of what our spiritual leaders, political leaders, and news media say, this is how we should all be behaving. Doesn’t matter what religion (or no religion) you practice we are all humans and this is the example we should all be following for the treatment of others.

Say all that you want about how this religion or that religion is violent, but it shouldn’t matter, at the end of the day we all need to be following the Golden Rule. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Saying someone should retaliate because their attackers didn’t follow the rule just goes to show how much we don’t understand it. Retaliation only adds fuel to the fire, and only when someone decides to turn the other cheek will the endless cycle be broken.
