The United States was attacked on 9/11, no denying that, but we need to remember who attacked us. We were not attacked by Afghanistan, we were not attacked by Iraq, we were attacked by the Muslim extremist group al-Qaeda. Did al-Qaeda deserve to pay for these attacks, probably, but did the innocent civilians that got caught in the crossfire deserve to pay, most definitely not. We need to remember, while we talk about how great it was for us to strike back that to many of the civilians in Afghanistan we’re nothing more than the terrorists we are supposedly fighting against. This cartoon from an Arab newspaper sums that up without saying a single word.
We also need to keep in mind the real reasons why we were attacked, and I’m not talking about what bogus reasons we were fed by the media and politicians. The reason we were attacked is that the United States for the past several decades hasn’t been able to keep its hands out of the Middle East. Politically and physically we have occupied and manipulated these countries, fought wars, and dropped bombs. And for what, most likely for that black liquid that seems to be highly concentrated over there. We weren’t attacked because they hate our freedom, we weren’t attacked because of our religion, we were attacked because we have not been able to let these countries be their own countries for decades.
